A little history:
In 1987 Carol Stoudt created a 30 barrel brewhouse and added it to their already thriving restaurant and antique business located in Adamstown, PA. In doing so, Carol became the first female brewmaster since prohibition, pioneered the craft brewing movement, and inspired countless women to follow in her footsteps
Under Carol’s leadership Stoudts quickly rose to prominence as one of the top breweries not just in Pennsylvania but across the East Coast. The Stoudts brand became synonymous with quality and in just a few years they were winning countless awards at the nation’s premiere beer festivals.
Over the past 30 years Stoudt grew her brand under the notion of Gemütlichkeit ,a term that has no direct translation but she explains as like minded people having a great time together, through their authentic German-style beers.
In 2020, after more than a 30 year run of brewing innovation and a mission of inspiration and equality in the industry, it was time for Stoudt to settle down. They closed the doors to their brewery and ceased production later that year. Though the beer had stopped flowing, Stoudt knew she couldn’t let a brand as reputed as hers retire. Just as soon as she had stepped back, she began searching for the perfect partner to carry on the legacy she had worked so long to build.
Stoudt quickly found exactly the people she was looking for in Evil Genius Beer Company. A Philadelphia based regional brewery. Stoudt had known the founders of Evil Genius for quite some time as they had frequented the legendary Stoudts’ beer fests in the past. In fact, the co-founders of Evil Genius shared the same mentality as she did, that it was simply unacceptable for such an important brand to go to waste.
Together they set out to formulate a plan to get Stoudts back in action and on August 1st of 2022 the beer began to flow once more and the legacy she had left was reignited. Kegs of fresh Stoudts beer were delivered to bars across Northeastern Pennsylvania, The Lehigh Valley, and the Philadelphia Five County Region. Their partnership promises to maintain the quality and history of the Stoudts brand that people know and love for years to come.
